The Unwanted Guest

For July's play reading, we're delving into The Unwanted Guest by Lindy Wilson.

The evening will include a table read of the play by actors, followed by a discussion of the work. The discussion will be led by Melanie O'Connor Horn and a panel of experts. Input from the audience is most welcome!

About the play

Rudi, a former close friend of Mark’s, who has just given state's evidence against his comrades and been sent into exile, arrives to stay. Mark and Justine have only recently married. A triangle of conflict ensues, revealing why Justine has every reason not to want Rudi there.

This is a story about how being loyal to one person betrays another.

Lindy Wilson is a documentary film producer and director. Her films include: Last Supper in Hortsley Street; Robben Island Our University; A Travelling Song and The Guguletu Seven. Previously, she was the Cape Town director of SACHED (the South African Committee for Higher Education), an independent, national NGO and adult education centre, which initially offered bursaries and an alternative tertiary education to students unwilling to attend the new, segregated universities.
