A Christmas Carol
Masque Repertory Theatre (Masque Rep) is excited to present A Christmas Carol. This classic tale has been reimagined as a youth-driven South African production, with one adult actor as Scrooge and the remaining characters brought to life by a vibrant young ensemble (ages 8-18). Dickens’ classic story of greed, ghosts, generosity, and redemption is going to be retold with local flavour, theatrical imagination, and festive heart.

Rehearsals will begin on Saturday, 1 August, from 12:00–16:00, with a read-through of the script and a meet-and-greet.
Rehearsals will take place at Wynberg Girls’ School.
Regular rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays from 18:00–21:00 and Saturdays from 10:00–15:00. A 30-minute lunch break will be built into Saturday rehearsals midway through the day, so please pack a lunch.
As we get the show on its feet, not everyone will be needed at every rehearsal. A schedule with scene breakdowns, including who is required to attend each rehearsal, will be distributed.
November rehearsals will be scheduled with exams in mind. The rehearsal days and times will remain the same, but Saturdays will be the main rehearsal day for the full company. Tuesdays in November will focus mainly on Scrooge and those needed for specific scenes, meaning most cast members will only be called for one, possibly two, Tuesday rehearsals during that month.
We move into the theatre on Monday, 30 November. From that point, rehearsals will take place every day, with weeknight rehearsals from 18:00–21:00 and weekend rehearsals from 10:00–15:00.
There will only be eight days to get the show ready once we move into the theatre. Since November will be lighter to accommodate school commitments, those final eight days will be our essential final push to get the show into shape, onto the stage, and fully teched.
