jointheboard

Being on the Board means helping guide the governance and long-term direction of the theatre.

Board members often learn from others with different skills and perspectives, while gaining insight into how a working theatre is governed and sustained. No prior theatre experience is needed; members bring their own backgrounds and skillsets, which are shared across the board.

This is not a day-to-day operational role, but one focused on strategic discussions and decision-making in Board meetings, based on reports and input from the theatre's operational team.

ourdirection

The Masque is a community performance space with a long history of supporting local artists and performers. It hosts community theatre, independant productions, as well as a range of live performance work including music and dance.

We are a non-profit organisation, guided by a voluntary Board that provide oversight and strategic direction. Read on for more information about the Board and how to get involved.

Focus

To ensure sustainability and reduce pressure on our team, we are refining how we produce work.

Each year, the theatre will present a clear and consistent programme.

Annual Programme

* One One-Act Play Festival
* One Youth Theatre Club production
* One flagship mainstage production

This structure allows us to plan more sustainably, support our production teams better, and maintain consistency in what we offer audiences.

Venue for Hire

At the same time, the Masque Theatre continues to operate as a venue for hire.

We host a range of external productions, including community theatre, independent producers, music performances, and dance shows, and more.

This use of the space plays an important role in supporting the theatre’s sustainability, ensuring the building remains active and financially supported through a variety of events.
